- If you are preparing a meal for a kosher home, your kitchen must be
kosher or you must purchase a meal from a kosher restaurant or vendor.
- If you are preparing a meal for a home that is not kosher, your kitchen
does not need to be kosher. We request that you prepare the meal in a kosher
style which means that any meat you use is kosher, you do not mix meat and
milk ingredients in one meal, you do not use any ingredients that are not
kosher (i.e., shellfish or pork products) and you prepare the food in
disposable pans.
In this manner, everyone may participate in the mitzvah of providing meals
to those in need while still respecting that these acts of chesed are a part
of our synagogue community. If you have any questions about kosher style or
kosher ingredients, please contact one of our rabbis at
Rabbi.Drill@theojc.org or Rabbi.Scheff@theojc.org.
