
Sandra Peck-Borowsky
Sandra Peck- Borowsky, our Educational Director, was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, in a home imbued with the love of Judaism and observance. Eager to experience life in Israel, she lived on Kibbutz Hatzerim, in Beersheva, for six months during her senior year in high school.
Sandy received her B. S. from the University of Maryland, and her M.S. in Education from Long Island University. She is a New York State licensed Elementary and Special Education teacher for grades K-12. She was recently selected to study in the Leadership Institute for Congregational Principals, a two-year innovative joint program of the Jewish Theological Seminary and Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion.
Since moving to Rockland County in 1981, she has been a pre-school, formal, and informal Jewish educator in a variety of educational settings including local synagogues and the JCC-Y. Previous to becoming the Orangetown Jewish Center’s Educational Director, Sandy was the Principal of Pelham Manor Jewish Center in Westchester County for three years.
Sandy is active in both the Jewish and secular educational community of Rockland County. She was a founding member of the Clarkstown Pre-school Council and a teacher advocate for the Clarkstown Special Education Committee. She is a member of the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education, the Jewish Early Childhood Association, and The Center for Jewish Education Rockland's Principal Association. She has been honored by the Women's Division of Israel Bonds.
Sandy and her husband Jack live in New City and are the proud parents of five wonderful children. Her motto is, "Learn Torah, Live Torah, and Pass it on with Love"!
