Sharon Rappaport
Sharon Rappaport is a native of Rockland County. She grew up in Nanuet, NY and has been a member of the Nanuet Hebrew Center since she was six years old. She attended Nanuet High School and then went on to Tel Aviv University as well as George Washington University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 1986. While working in a family business, Sharon realized that her love of children and Judaism needed to be addressed directly. She began teaching at Beth Am Temple in their Confirmation Program while returning to graduate school at night. In 1997, Sharon graduated Iona College with a Masters in Teaching (Elementary Ed) and began teaching in the Rockland County public schools. Sharon worked at Beth Am Temple in Pearl River and at Temple Ner Tamid in Bloomfield, NJ from 1991-2006 as Youth Director, Confirmation/Coordinator and Religious School teacher. Currently, Sharon is employed by Rockland County BOCES during the school year and is proud to be entering her bat mitzvah year at Camp Ramah in Nyack, her summer home. She lives in Nanuet with her two teenage boys, Brian and Josh and it is Sharon’s distinct pleasure to continue in her role as USY advisor and serve as OJC’s Youth Director.
