OJC Sisterhood Monthly Message

Time flies when you’re having fun!!!

We cannot believe that it has been 3 years since we became Co-Presidents of The Orangetown Jewish Centers Sisterhood, wow! We truly enjoyed and had fun in doing good for our synagogue.

Cedine and I are fortunate to have worked with and had the support of the Sisterhood Board. We cannot say it enough times how fabulous, talented and educated the women on the Sisterhood board are. We thank you and are confident that the OJC sisterhood will continue to grow and flourish under the guidance of the new Board.

The OJC Sisterhood touches every congregant, young and old at some point. We support and are involved with many arms of the synagogue, such as the Nursery School, The Religious School, and the Men’s club.

The OJC Sisterhood has a scholarship program that helps to send students to Israel, We support Torah Fund and Women’s League, We have monthly book chats, deliver shiva meals, send out birthday cards, New Year Greetings, Koach packages to college students for the holidays and Shalach Manot packages to every congregant, just to name a few things. Whew, we are busy but happy to be contributing to the OJC community and beyond.

The sisterhood has brought many wonderful and informative programs and events to OJC. We have also contributed and sponsored many pieces of art around the schul, most recently, the wall hangings in the Simcha room. These pieces of art were done over the last 2 years on Mitzvah Day. Our congregants helped create the pieces under the guidance of artist Nancy Katz.

Please join us for a special evening on Monday, June 14th.Our installation for the new board is set for 7pm.  Please come out and welcome the new sisterhood board.  At that time will also name our gift shop in memory of our dear friend Gladys Weiss

We want to thank Carolyn Wodar, Faye Dinowitz, Silvia Farkas & Barbara Rosen for their time and effort in coordinating the evening.

A very special Yasha Koach to Marc Levine the best administrative assistant (next to Krista),sisterhood could have. We are grateful and appreciative of all that you do for us. You definitely are an honorary Sisterhood member.
