Adult Education

Jewish tradition teaches us that the world stands on three things: Torah study, prayer and loving acts of kindness. While we practice all of these values at the OJC, Torah study is at the core of what we do, leading us to more connections, more action, and more commitment.

​For our Jewish community, learning is never complete, but is always ongoing. Our synagogue offers a wide variety of topics, formats and times.  There is truly something for every congregant to begin or continue a lifetime of learning. Whether you choose a weekly Torah study group or a monthly Ethics course, OJC is the place for you to engage with Torah as a context for living! It is sometimes intimidating to begin study as an adult. Your rabbis welcome your questions and suggestions about the class that might be right for you, and if you are looking to learn something not being offered, we will make it happen!

Lunch Break Learning
Every Other Monday - 12:00 PM
Join Rabbi Shoyer for your "lunch break" and explore some in-depth Jewish learning. This session will take place every other Monday at Panera Bread at Rt 59 & S. Middletown Rd in Nanuet.

Zionism Then And Now
Monthly on Sundays
7:00 PM in person | 1:30 PM on Zoom
Join Rabbis Scheff and Hersh for a monthly exploration of Zionism, the history, the present, and the future. Sunday evening @ at OJC and Tuesday afternoon on Zoom.

Thursdays - 11:00 AM
A discussion of the Parashat HaShavua (the weekly Torah portion) with Rabbi Scheff.
