Help Us Help You!
The OJC is a place that cares.
We support our community in all ways possible. As it is said, “Kol Yisrael arevim zeh bazeh” (We are all responsible for each other).
If you need assistance, please reach out to our Chesed Committee by clicking this link. A representative from the Committee will reach out to help.
When you're in the lobby of our shul, please peruse the large selection of brochures and pamphlets offering helpful spiritual guidance in times of challenge and strain.
They are a treasure trove of uplifting and supportive help.
Our rabbis, of course, are always at the ready to personally assist you in any way they can. Please call the office, or e-mail them directly, with any questions -- or to make an appointment to meet with them.
Celebrate Your Simcha at the OJC!
Ours is a joyful space where we celebrate bar and bat mitzvot and weddings, of course. But we also "schep nachas" for baby namings, brit milah, birthdays, anniversaries, promotions and awards, and well-earned retirements!
Our simcha room can comfortably seat up to 250 people, and we have both meat and dairy kitchens from which come our delicious Shabbat Kiddush lunches, Shabbat Seudot Sh'lishit, and various lunches, brunches and dinners throughout the year.
We encourage every member family to join in the mitzvah of sponsoring a Kiddush any time there is something worth celebrating. And multiple sponsors are welcome for any Kiddush -- because the more celebrating, the merrier!
If there's a celebration you'd like to share, let our office administrator, Krista Bohn and our catering committee help.
Outside catering, with kashrut certification approved by Rabbi Scheff, is welcome.
Call Krista at 845-359-5920 or click here to e-mail her for all the particulars and any guidance you may need.
In Times of Grief & Loss
The OJC Cemetery Committee administers burial plots at the Cedar Park Cemetery off Forest Avenue in Emerson, Bergen County, NJ, not at all far from our synagogue. It's a beautiful, exclusively Jewish final resting place, and our community maintains plots which are available for purchase in one of three blocks. For information and arrangements, please reach out to our cemetery committee co-chairs, Gregg Brunwasser and Jeffrey Steinberg. Our rabbis can be reached in time of need through Krista Bohn, our OJC office administrator, or via our congregational president, Justin Rubenstein.
